Who is responsible for your information?
Jagdev Legal Limited is the controller of information collected for our enquiries and legal services. Contact Balraj Singh Jagdev at 175 Cole Valley Road, Birmingham B28 0DG, info@jagdevlegal.co.uk or 0121 320 2053 with privacy questions or requests. Our company number is 06389377 and SRA number is 472717.
Information you give us
We collect the contact details, enquiry summary, deadlines and safe-contact preferences you provide. Appointment requests may include the names of other people or organisations involved so we can check conflicts. The acceptance form records your name, email, any authority or matter details, the terms version, submission date and your separate acceptance, early-start and marketing choices. Please provide only a brief initial summary and do not upload identity documents, bank details or detailed sensitive case material through a general enquiry.
Fields marked as required are needed to process that form. You can contact us by telephone or email if a form is unsuitable. If we act for you, we will explain further information needed for the matter, identity checks, funding and our professional obligations. This may include information received from you, other parties, advisers, courts and public records.
How the website features work
- Enquiry forms: submissions are stored in our WordPress website records and sent to our team using Microsoft email services.
- General terms acceptance: the record is stored and emailed to the firm, and a receipt is sent to your supplied email address. Acceptance alone does not instruct us for particular work.
- Mediation questionnaire: your answers remain in the page until you choose to submit the enquiry. Benefit and asset answers are excluded from the submitted summary. The questionnaire does not send answers to an AI service or make a binding decision about legal aid, suitability or appointments.
- Appointments: Microsoft Bookings processes the details you enter to arrange appointments. Booking information is available to the firm for administration and conflict checks.
- Secure client services: where you use LEAP or LawConnect, information is processed through those services for the relevant client workflow. Payment providers process information when you use their payment services.
- Google services: the website uses Google Tag Manager to manage website tags, Google Analytics for website measurement, Google AdSense for advertising, and Google reCAPTCHA to help detect spam and abuse. These services may process device and browser details, online identifiers, IP address, pages viewed and interaction signals for their respective purposes.
- Chat and embedded content: the website includes a Tidio chat service and third-party content such as reviews, maps and regulatory verification. Using these services may disclose device, connection and interaction information to their providers.
Why we use information and our lawful bases
We use enquiry and appointment information to respond to your request and take steps before entering a contract, and client information to perform agreed services. We also process information to comply with legal and regulatory obligations, including identity and anti-money-laundering requirements where applicable. Our legitimate interests include administering enquiries, checking conflicts, maintaining appropriate records, protecting our systems and establishing or defending legal claims, balanced against your rights.
Information about health, other special categories or criminal allegations requires additional legal conditions. Where relevant, processing may be necessary for legal claims, legal advice or applicable statutory obligations; we will identify the appropriate conditions for the particular work. Cookie consent is not the basis for providing legal advice.
Marketing
The acceptance form's email-updates choice is separate and optional. Declining or withdrawing it does not affect your legal services. Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time by contacting us or using an unsubscribe link. Withdrawal does not affect processing already lawfully carried out. You can object to direct marketing at any time.
Who receives information?
Information is available to authorised personnel and service providers supporting the relevant activity, including website hosting and maintenance, Microsoft email and booking services, LEAP/LawConnect client services, payment services, website chat, CookieYes for cookie preference management, and Google services for tag management, analytics, advertising and reCAPTCHA security. Google’s privacy information is available at policies.google.com/privacy. For legal work, relevant information may also be shared with counsel, experts, other advisers, courts, counterparties, insurers, auditors, regulators or authorities where appropriate, authorised or required. We must respect confidentiality and applicable legal restrictions when sharing information.
External services have their own privacy notices. Ask us if you need information about a provider used for your enquiry or matter.
How long information is kept
Retention depends on the purpose and the type of record. We consider whether an enquiry becomes a matter, conflict-check requirements, the need to evidence acceptance or consent, legal and regulatory obligations, limitation periods and any continuing dispute or preservation requirement. Relevant enquiries and acceptance records may become part of a client file. Our general client terms explain file retention; you can ask us for the period or criteria applicable to a particular record. Information should be deleted or anonymised when no longer needed, subject to lawful preservation requirements.
International processing
Some technology providers operate internationally. Where personal information is transferred outside the UK, the applicable transfer must have a lawful basis, such as UK adequacy regulations or appropriate contractual safeguards, with any additional measures required. Contact us for the destination and safeguard information relevant to the service you use, or to request a copy of applicable safeguards subject to necessary redactions.
Cookies and similar technologies
The CookieYes banner provides controls to accept all, reject all or customise cookie choices. The website also uses Google services for tag management, analytics, advertising and form security. Google services may store or read cookies or similar identifiers and process device, browser, IP address, page-view and interaction information for those purposes. You can change your cookie choices using the website controls. Browser settings can also control cookies, although blocking them may affect functionality. Consent choices are separate from submitting an enquiry or accepting our terms. Google’s privacy information is available at policies.google.com/privacy.
Your rights
Depending on the circumstances, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction or portability of your information, and may object to processing based on legitimate interests. You can withdraw consent where processing relies on it. Rights are subject to applicable exceptions, including legal privilege and lawful record-preservation requirements. We do not use the website questionnaire to make solely automated decisions producing legal or similarly significant effects.
To make a request, contact us with enough information to identify the relevant records. We may need to verify identity before disclosing information. Please do not send identity documents unless we request them through an appropriate channel.
Security and safe communication
We use organisational and technical measures intended to protect information and restrict access appropriately. Email and online services are not risk-free. Tell us if it is unsafe to call, leave a voicemail or email you, and agree a suitable communication method with us.
Concerns and complaints
Please contact us with concerns about your information. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or telephone 0303 123 1113.
Changes and accessibility
We will update this notice when our processing changes and draw material changes to your attention where appropriate. Contact us if you need the information in another format or help understanding it.
